Lumina Group takes digital road to the furthest, upgrading it’s lighting design service by means of the latest technology. Overhauling the whole system; from non-physical space, work attitudes, socializing, AI supported infra structure, and of course the lighting design service.
By the virtue of Covid-19, it’s a God’s mysterious way to lead us. That big event will be meaningless should we do not learn the message; going back to our previous live instead of moving forward. It’s a message to improve, find new ways to reach for a better world.
It’s inevitable to Lumina Group to go digital, to maintain the reputation as a leading lighting design firm. Embracing the technology will make the company more efficient, creating more comprehensive design, better faster service, and ready to take the global competition.
Lumina Group considers itself as the residence of national assets in lighting design profession. Not many lighting designers available in the country, isn’t it? So the efforts of upgrading are necessary. It’s a responsibility to keep the professionalism updated, while keeping the lighting knowledge spread.
Digital without leaving humanity
Being fully digital, Lumina Group’s designers are equipped with the tools and skills of the future. The big change will be Lumina’s own digital platform. It’s a digital platform that manages everything; from projects, social live, collaboration, self improvement, knowledge center as well as administrative workflow.
Being humanly social in a virtual world is tricky. There are still experiments to reach the balance between human and machine. Luminapedia was an initial step in Lumina’s digital venture to connect to people by spreading the knowledge (mostly lighting knowledge for sure 😉). The Youtube CAST program is a talk show involving designers to share their knowledge and thoughts. The Youtube channel, this e-magazine and other social media tools are the electronic media as the foundation of the industry to connect to people with similar mind.
Internal design tools are infused with latest technologies. The company upgrades it’s design workflow with automated drafting, 3D printing, advanced rendering, 3D walkthrough modelling to VR experience.
Design experience is one of the main focus of improvement. It’s always known that image cannot represent lighting design. The next step is real time walkthrough render; giving a more three dimensional experience to get closer to the design.
Great hope lies in Virtual Reality (VR). It’s not perfect for the time being, but time will run fast for it. As Chris Milk put it wisely, one will immerse in the experience instead of watching.
